After several border conflicts, the war began on 25 June 1950 with the invasion of North Korea in the south of the country. On 27 July 1953, a ceasefire was declared, without a real winner.
No peace treaty has been negotiated since then, so the conflict formally continues. The Korean War is considered part of the Cold War.
